1.This is ONLY if you presently are running AyaNova version 5 - This is NOT to upgrade from AyaNova 4.x to AyaNova 5

2. Double-check your version before applying this by selecting menu Help -> About AyaNova

3. Download the latest version 5.1.0.0 installation file from http://www.ayanova.com/download.htm

4. Proceed depending on the installation configuration you have presently:

If have installed AyaNova 5 for stand-alone use on a single computer:

  • the installation will NOT overwrite your existing database if there is one already there
  • by default it will have preselected everything you have already installed - as these need to be installed again with the latest files
  • when it asks if you want to overwrite the config.txt file , select NO

You have now upgraded your stand-alone AyaNova program files and the AyaNova database to the latest version of AyaNova and can now run AyaNova 5.1.0.0

If have configured AyaNova 5 for network configuration

A.  Have all AyaNova programs shut down

  • make sure all users, including yourself, are out of AyaNova 5
  • if you were running the network Generator shut down the Generator service via your Services
  • if you were running the AyaNova Data Portal  stop the AyaNova Data Portal via IIS
  • if WBI 5 was installed, shut down your IIS web site
  • if MBI 5 was installed, shut down your IIS web site

B. Make a backup of your AyaNova database - see the Backup & Recovery section of the AyaNova 5 Help file for your configuration

C.  Server AyaNova program update

  • copy the downloaded AyaNovaSetup.exe to a shared folder and a copy of your existing config.txt
  • on the server first run the AyaNova setup and select network setup

  • if you are shown an error that it can not overwrite certain files, that is because you did not shut down all AyaNova products before hand as required. Abort the installation, make sure everything is shut down (Generator and/or DataPortal), and run the installation again.
  • when it asks if you want to overwrite the config.txt file , select NO  By selecting NO, this means you do not have to edit your config.txt file again if you had configured for network use.

  • After the installation is completed, run this latest version of AyaNova on this server, log in and confirm via Help -> About AyaNova that you are now running the latest version AyaNova 5.1.0.0

D. Now you can upgrade the networked computers -

  • copy this latest 5.1.0.0 AyaNovaSetup.exe installation file to the shared location on your network with a copy of your config.txt file from the server if not already there
  • and have each networked user run the AyaNovaSetup.exe file again just as they did when you first configured for network use by having them select the Network administrator setup (step #6 of the networking steps for your database server type i.e. Firebird or SQL Express or SQL Server).

  • When it asks any of the networked users if they want to overwrite config.txt file, have them select NO.
  • The installation will preselect everything already installed on the users computer, so have them accept that as it needs to be updated to the latest version.

E. If had previously installed WBI, download the latest version WBI 5.1.0.0 setup file from http://www.ayanova.com/download.htm , and install the latest WBI

  • When it askes if you wish to overwrite the existing config.txt, select NO.
  • Don't forget to restart the IIS web site after (unless installing MBI below)
  • If you encounter an issue running WBI 5.1.0.0 after performing the above:
    • make sure the config.txt file in the bin folder IS the correct file
    • if the config.txt file is the same but you continue with an issue then perform the full WBI setup from scratch: - shut down IIS web site, uninstall WBI 5.1.0.0, perform the full WBI steps as per the WBI installation steps in the WBI 5 Help file

F. If had previously installed MBI, download the latest version MBI 5.1.0.0 setup file from http://www.ayanova.com/download.htm , and install the latest MBI

  • When it askes if you wish to overwrite the existing config.txt, select NO.
  • Don't forget to restart the IIS web site after
  • If you encounter an issue running MBI 5.1.0.0 after performing the above:
    • make sure the config.txt file in the bin folder IS the correct file
    • if the config.txt file is the same but you continue with an issue then perform the full WBI setup from scratch: - shut down IIS web site, uninstall MBI 5.1.0.0, perform the full WBI steps as per the MBI installation steps in the latest AyaNova 5 Help file

G. If you were presently running the network Generator service, restart it. Same with Data Portal.

You have now upgraded your AyaNova program files and the AyaNova database to the latest version of AyaNova, and can now have everyone start using AyaNova again.
