What version can I run

Hi, we have a 5 user license with ‘Web Browser Interface’ and we are on version 4.0.1.0 which we bought28/01/2008. The person that installed this has now left and it is down to me to maintain the product ( I am the owner of the company)

Q1) I have discovered that we seem to be using a very old version of the product and wondered what is the newest version that my licenses will let me run?

Q2) It looks like the ‘Web Browser Interface’ has never been installed. Can you point me to the installation instructions for doing so.

Q3) If we can use a newer version, can we simply run the upgrade over our existing installation to update it or are there step we should take?

We have no documentation for the product and none of the technical team here have knowledge of the product other than how to use it and so as you can see I wish to get things installed correctly and up to date.

Any help, advice or direction you can give me would be appreciated. I am quite technical and so should have no issues taking over the maintenance.

Many thanks,

Andrew Velvin, Managing Director & Co-founder at First 4 IT Ltd UK (www.first4it.co.uk)

Hi Andrew

AyaNova is very easy to maintain - even more so with the latest version.

Q1) I have discovered that we seem to be using a very old version of the product and wondered what is the newest version that my licenses will let me run?

The last released version of 4.x was 4.2.0.0

What you will want to do is follow the maintenance update steps on this AyaNova Support Forum in topic http://forum.ayanova.com/Topic4264-96-1.aspxto update your 4.0 to 4.2.0.0

You can access the Help documentation for your version of AyaNova by selecting the Help -> Contents menu in AyaNova itself, as well as go to http://www.ayanova.com/onlinehelp.htmand scroll down to the older AyaNova 4.2 documentation section links.

If you are not sure what “configuration” your AyaNova presently is, view your config.txt file in your AyaNova program folder; view the Help -> About AyaNova technical information for your database connection. If not sure, send a copy of your config.txt file and your ayalog.txt file from your AyaNova program folder to us and we can let you know which it is.

Q2) It looks like the ‘Web Browser Interface’ has never been installed. Can you point me to the installation instructions for doing so.

Once you have your AyaNova up to verison 4.2.0.0, then refer to the WBI 4 Help documentation for installation of WBI (web browser interface). This would be on the How To documentation web page http://www.ayanova.com/onlinehelp.htmscroll down to the section for version 4.2 online help

Q3) If we can use a newer version, can we simply run the upgrade over our existing installation to update it or are there step we should take?

Answers to common upgrading questions can be found on http://www.ayanova.com/FaqUpgrading.htm

The latest version of AyaNova is 6.3.0.0 at the time of this posting (6.4.0.0 maintenance update is expected to be released later this week or next week)

As presently licensed for version 4, your company is eligible to upgrade your exiting licenses to version 6 at the special upgrade 50% discounted price.

For example, if presently licensed for 5 (five) AyaNova 4.x schedulable user licenses and WBI 4.x, then you would be elgible to upgrade to version 6 by purchasing 5 (five) AyaNova 6.x Upgrade from 4.x - schedulable user licenses at $94.50 each and WBI 6.x Upgrade from 4.x license at $199.50

Once you have purchased your upgrade licenses, then you would follow the specific upgrade steps for your configuration in the AyaNova 6 Help documentation. For example, if you are presently configured for use with SQL Express, you would follow the upgrade steps at http://www.ayanova.com/AyaNova6webHelp/upgrading_if_networked_sql_exp.htmonce you have purchased the licenses.

You can confirm what your configuration is by viewing what configuration string you are using in your config.txt file - also viewable by selecting Help -> About.

Do take a look at the new features available since your version - see the links on http://www.ayanova.com/FaqUpgrading.htm#Upgradefrom4

If any questions, do be sure to attach a copy of your config.txt file and ayalog.txt file from your AyaNova program folder, and we would be happy to help.
