AyaNova 6.6.0.0 Maintenance Update Steps

AyaNova Upgrade steps to 6.6.0.0

  1. This is ONLY if you presently are running AyaNova version 6 - this is NOT to upgrade from AyaNova 5.x or older to AyaNova 6
  2. Double-check your version before applying this by selecting menu Help -> About AyaNova
  3. Download the latest version 6.6.0.0 AyaNova setup file from http://www.ayanova.com/download.htm
  4. Proceed depending on the installation configuration you have presently:

**If your AyaNova 6 is on a single computer:
Upgrade steps overview:
A. Shut down all AyaNova programs
B. Make backup of your AyaNova database
C. Uninstall any plugins
D. Run the 6.6 AyaNovaSetup.exe and install
E. Run AyaNova 6.6 and confirm version
F. Install plugins

A. Make sure you have exited out of all programs including AyaNova
B. It is always recommended to make a backup of your database as per http://www.ayanova.com/AyaNova6webHelp/if_using_the_stand_alone_singl.htm
C. If you have installed any optional add-ons (OLI, ExportToXLS, etc) uninstall via Add/Remove Programs before proceeding.
D. Run the new version AyaNovaSetup.exe installation file selecting the “Default setup with sample database”

[li]Do note that the installation will NOT overwrite your existing database if there is one already there
[/li][li]By default it will have preselected everything you have already installed - as these need to be installed again with the latest files
[/li][li]When it asks if you want to overwrite the config.txt file , select NO
[/li][/ul]
E. You have now upgraded your stand-alone AyaNova program files and can now run AyaNova 6.6.0.0 and log in.

[li]Check if the quick fix is relevant to you. If so, apply as per its steps (don’t forget to also apply to networked computers too if needed)[/ul]
[/li]

F. If you are using any of the optional add-ons or plugins, you will also need to upgrade them to the same version

[li]Uninstall the optional add-on or plugin
[/li][li]Download the latest version from http://www.ayanova.com/download.htm
[/li][li]And install.
[/li][/ul]**If your AyaNova 6 is configured for network use (database on a server and multiple networked computers connect to it)

Upgrade steps overview:
A. Shut down all AyaNova programs
B. Make backup of your AyaNova database as per the Help documentation for your network configuration
C. Upgrade AyaNova on server
D. Upgrade AyaNova on networked computers
E. Remove and install optional add-ons

A. Shut down all AyaNova programs

[li]make sure all users, including yourself, are out of AyaNova 6
[/li][li]if you were running the network Generator shut down the Generator service via your Services
[/li][li]if you were running the AyaNova Data Portal stop the AyaNova Data Portal via IIS
[/li][li]if WBI 6 was installed, shut down your IIS web site
[/li][li]if MBI 6 was installed, shut down your IIS web site
[/li][/ul]B. Backup your database.

[li]It is always recommended to make a backup of your AyaNova database before any changes such as upgrading the program files - see the Backup & Recovery section of the AyaNova 6 Help file for your network configuration
[/li][/ul]C. Update AyaNova on the server
[ul]
[li]Copy the downloaded AyaNovaSetup.exe to a shared folder on your network with a copy of your existing config.txt
[/li][/ul]

[li]On the server first run the AyaNova setup and select network setup
[/li][/ul]
[ul]
[li]If you are shown an error that it can not overwrite certain files, that is because you did not shut down all AyaNova products before hand as required. Abort the installation, make sure everything is shut down (Generator and/or DataPortal), and run the installation again.
[/li][li]When it asks if you want to overwrite the config.txt file , select NO By selecting NO, this means you do not have to edit your config.txt file again if you had configured for network use.

[li]After the installation is completed, run this latest version of AyaNova on this server, log in and confirm via Help -> About AyaNova that you are now running the latest version AyaNova 6.6.0.0

[li]Check if the quick fix is relevant to you. If so, apply as per its steps (don’t forget to also apply to networked computers too if needed)[/ul]

D. Now upgrade the networked computers
[ul]
[li]Have each networked user run the AyaNovaSetup.exe file from the shared location on your network that is with a copy of your config.txt file from the server, selecting the Network administrator setup (this is the exact same step #6 of the networking steps for your database server type i.e. Firebird or SQL Express or SQL Server).

[li]When it asks any of the networked users if they want to overwrite config.txt file, have them select NO.
[/li][/ul]
[ul]
[li]The installation will preselect everything already installed on the users computer, so have them accept that as it needs to be updated to the latest version.
[/li][/ul]E. Remove and install optional add-ons

a) WBI
[ul]
[li]Download the latest WBI 6.6.0.0 setup file from http://www.ayanova.com/download.htm and install
[/li][li]When it asks if you wish to overwrite the existing config.txt, select NO.
[/li][li]Don’t forget to restart the IIS web site after (unless installing MBI below of course)
[/li][li]If you encounter an issue running WBI 6.6.0.0 after performing the above:
[/li]Make sure the config.txt file in the bin folder IS the correct file
If the config.txt file is the same but you continue with an issue then perform the full WBI setup from scratch: - shut down IIS web site, uninstall WBI, perform the full WBI steps as per the WBI installation steps in the WBI 6 Help file

[li]Download the latest MBI 6.6 setup file from http://www.ayanova.com/download.htm and install
[/li][li]When it asks if you wish to overwrite the existing config.txt, select NO.
[/li][li]Don’t forget to restart the IIS web site after
[/li][li]If you encounter an issue running MBI 6.6.0.0 after performing the above:
[/li]Make sure the config.txt file in the bin folder IS the correct file
If the config.txt file is the same but you continue with an issue then perform the full MBI setup from scratch: - shut down IIS web site, uninstall MBI, perform the full MBI steps as per the MBI installation steps in the latest AyaNova 6 Help file
[/ul]c) If using any other optional add-on (i.e. QBI, PTI, OLI, QuickNotify, ExportToXLS, OutlookScheduleExport, etc) you will also need to upgrade them to the same version otherwise you will get an error

[li]Uninstall the optional add-on or plugin
[/li][li]Download the latest version from http://www.ayanova.com/download.htm
[/li][li]And install.
[/li][/ul]d) G. If you were presently running the network Generator service, restart it. Same with Data Portal

F. You have now upgraded your AyaNova program files and the AyaNova database to the latest version of AyaNova, and can now have everyone start using AyaNova again.

[li]If you encounter an issue being able run the new version of an AyaNova program (i.e. MBI or OLI, etc), you will want to shut down, uninstall completely via Add/Remove Programs, reboot, and then install again as per its installation steps in its Help documentation.
