Yes. There is no reasonable limit to the number of workorder items a workorder can have, as you could select the serial number of the unit (cell phone) in each workorder item, thereby maintaining a specific service history for each cell phone within the workorder.
I think what you are actually asking about is, can you search the serial number to bring up all workorders for that serial number?
Yes per se now with version 3, and even easier with the upcoming version 4
In AyaNovaversion 3, it won’t be searching per se, but with the same results by using filtering. For example, view the Itens grid in the Service navigation pane, and use the filter on the Serial column to display only records for serial numbers that meet your criteria - youcould use the quick filter selections like display only those that start with the numbers 0-3, or use the custom filter setting to enter specifics
Anda new feature in AyaNova 4is the (URL removed as for older version no longer supported - see the latest version of AyaNova) List All Workorders feature which does allow you to use the Search Database, and does the filtering above for you.
Steps for those would be view the Search Database navigation pane, enter the serial number (or part of the serial number with * for wild card) and search. As it will return the actual unit in the search results, right-click on the Unit and select List All Workorders, and AyaNova will automatically display all workorder items where this unit was selected in the Items grid of the Service navigation pane - so you can easily view the sepcific workorder, or easily select to print all history of that unit’s service.
Thanks you for your prompt response. We just returned to work and catching up. My questions is when we capture the serial numbers - can we scan them into the work order from the unit directly or do we have to capture them in another area of the program and then select them one by one into the workorder?
Process for us: Cellular phones are received by us for programming and a work order is opened and all the serial numbers are scanned into the work order by the warehouse. Phones are then taken to a programming area and programmed. There are units during the programming that do not power up and/or malfunction. Data has to be entered for these units as to why they failed and pulled from the work order. A new document is prepared for the units that failed. The outgoing count of the units that passed in the initial work order has to match the units that are leaving. The ones that failed - info can be entered in the original work order? or a new document has to be prepared?

Hi again,
In a workorder item for a workorder, a unit is “selected” from the unit drop down selection. See the AyaNova 4 Help file section (URL removed as for older version no longer supported - see the latest version of AyaNova) ]for an overview.
Yes, the unit must first be entered as its own object - via the unit entry screen - before it can be selected in the workorder.
UYou can enter details on the unit from within the workorder via the Unit jump button (to open the unit entry screen to enter details on a new unit, or view details on an existing unit), as well you can create a new unit from the Units grid. See also the AyaNova 4 Help file section on Units that starts with (URL removed as for older version no longer supported - see the latest version of AyaNova)
By entering the unit as a selectable object in AyaNova, allows you to select this unit for any future workorders without having to enter its information again, as well as be able to filter by it and obtain reports on it, such as all service for that particular unit.
I see what you now mean. And manually entering 5000 different serial numbers in one setting for a workorder could be a pain - but the thing is, that you do want to maintain specific service details on each.
A suggestion than is that whenyou receive 5000 cell phones, is that you use the Unit Import utility to import them as individual units for the client - so you do not have to manually enter the details into AyaNova. Than create the workorder for the client, and in each workorder item, select the specific unit (cell phone) so that you can track the specfic service for that cell phone (unit) - does not power up and/or malfunction, why they they failed, service done to fix them etc.
I would suggest trying this out with the trial AyaNova. In additon to the trial AyaNova installation, select to install the import utilities (or if already installed AyaNova, just run the installation again, and select the import utilities), and than refer to the AyaNova 4 Help section on the Unit import utility (URL removed as for older version no longer supported - see the latest version of AyaNova) on the format needed for the CSV file to be able to import the units, create the file, import into AyaNova, create a workorder for that client, and than in each workorder item in the workorder, select the specfic cell phone by its serial number, enter details about it failing etc.
I created in Excel a list of serial numbers in the first column and did not enter any data in the first row. Saved the spreadsheet as a CSV file. Opened Utilities and Import but the program requires a license to proceed. Any suggestions?
