I wanted to post this here for others that may encounter this:
An AyaNova user was following the SQL Express network configration steps on a server that already had SQL Express installed by Symantex Backup Exec
When he ran the Firebird To SQL utility to create the AyaNova SQL Express database, the utility would appear to stop at 50% showing in the bottom process bar at creating the SQL AyaNova database
After confirming the user was not performing the steps via remote, received the configuration strings he entered for the Firebird To SQL utility, and noticed that the SQL Express server was entered as server/backupexec which was strange as a “normal” SQL Express server would be called computername/SQLEXPRESS
Turns out that the Backup Exec installation program installs some Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition components that are required to run Backup Exec. But apparently not everything needed.
The AyaNova user uninstalled Backup Exec and its SQL Express, and installed SQL Express from scratch, and than was able to successfully run the Firebird To SQL utility to create the AyaNova SQL Express database
