Whether using the default installation or configuring for network use using the network Firebird or SQL Server, the AyaNova program executable identifies accessing the AyaNova database using the information in the AyaNova.exe.config file.
The AyaNova.exe.config file identifies the type of connection - either using the default embedded Firebird server, or the network Firebird server, a SQL Server, or via an AyaNova Data Portal
The AyaNova.exe.config file also identifies the the server, the database, and the internal access to the database.
This AyaNova.exe.config file resides in the same program folder as the AyaNova.exe executable file (and all other dll’s that are included in the program folder) on the local hard drive of the computer running the AyaNova program.
If have installed the AyaNovaSetup.exe downloaded from the AyaNova web site taking all defaults - there is no need to edit the AyaNova.exe.config file.
The AyaNova.exe.config file only needs to be edited if:
- You are configuring for use with the network Firebird configuration
- You are configuring for use with the SQL Server configuration
- The computer is a remote computer accessing using the AyaNova Data Portal

The network Firebird has the ability to use Alias’s which helps with security as users would not need to know the full path of the networked AyaNova database and instead use the alias name in the connection string in the AyaNova.exe.config file

During the installation and configuration of the Event Generator, a configuration file Generator.exe.config is placed in the Event Generator program folder allow access to, and to identify the AyaNova database

The AyaNovaImport utility identifies the AyaNova v3 database that AyaNova CE 1.9.4.4 data is to be imported to via the configuration file AyaImport.exe.config that is located in the CEImport folder.
DUring the configuration prior to running the import, the AyaImport.exe.config file may be edited if AyaNova v3 has been configured to use the network Firebird configuration, or SQL Express configuration or SQL Server configuration.
