I am hoping someone can answer a few of my questions before I start installing Ayanova 5.0 upgrade.
First here is a little about my current set up:
We have a Windows Server 2000 SP 4 that we installed Ayanova 3.6. It is using SQL Express database. The SQL Express database is on the same 2000 server. We have 5 network users that access the data on a daily basis. we also have a Windows 2003 terminal server that our employees log in on a daily basis.
We are now upgrading to 5.0 and I have recently found out that .Net Framework 3.5 is not supported on a Windows server 2000 machine. We do have a Terminal server 2003 and 2008 on site. My first questions is:
Can I install Ayanova 5.0 on the windows Terminal server 2003 machine and keep the SQLExpress database on the 2000 server? If I do it this way will this cause any noticeable lag or performance decrease for my network users?
If I want to move my SQL Express database to the 2003 server, is there any howto or can you give me a step by step on how to do this?
Do note that AyaNova 5 requires SQL 2005 or higher. The AyaNova 5 database is not compatible with SQL 2000.

We are not famailiar ourselves with how AyaNova reacts with Terminal Server, as the AyaNova Data Portal has been specifically designed for remote access.
I know that others do use Terminal Server with AyaNova. My only suggestion would be to try it. If it doesn’t work fast enough or causes performance decrease, then you know to try something else, such as the AyaNova Data Portal.

You would perform the steps just as if you lost the original server and had to recover as in the Backup & Recovery steps in the Help file.
Have everyone out of AyaNova and stay out
Make a backup of the AyaNova SQL database on the old server using your SQL Management Studio
Perform the initial steps of the AyaNova 3.6 SQL Express network configuration on the new server of course making sure to use a newer SQL Express version such as 2005 or 2008. Refer to the AyaNova 3 Manual if needed which is still available at http://www.ayanova.com/download.htm
Log in to the trial AyaNova database on this new server and ensure program installation successful
Close out of the trial AyaNova database
Restore your AyaNova SQL database onto the new server
Now perform the second to last step of the AyaNova 3.6 SQL network configuration steps where you configure this server to access this newly restored SQL database via the AyaNova program
And if there are networked computers that were previously connected, you can just replace their config.txt file, otherwise perform the last step of the AyaNova 3.6 SQL network configuration steps to configure networked computers.
9. Once you have AyaNova 3.6 running successfully on the new server, then perform the steps to upgrade to AyaNova 5 as per the AyaNova 5 Help file section (URL removed as for older version no longer supported - see the latest version of AyaNova)
3.Is Ayanova 5.0 supported on Server 2008?
By Server 2008, do you mean SQL Server 2008? Yes - AyaNova 5 is compatible with SQL Express 2005 and higher, or SQL Server 2005 and higher.
